about

It's another bit of a misery-guts song, it's just about feeling a bit depressed and ineffectual and useless. You know those mornings when you get up but you don't feel like it, when nothing seems to be working, your coffee is cold, you're supposed to go to a party but you don't feel like it, you ask for help but your hand is stone cold.
It's not my favourite song on the album because it's so negative. It makes it a bit of a modern blues but if anyone gets any solace from that, good luck to them!

We cut it in a very traditional way; Steve Wilson playing bass, Steve Smith on keyboards, Paul on drums and me on guitar, with Steve and Jess on backing vocals. Lead guitar: Tele through the Jackson Ampworks Britain.

lyrics

As I lay beneath the sun
There's more races to be won
I'm stone cold, stone cold again

As I lift my body up
As I lift the coffee cup
It's stone cold, stone cold again

Stone cold,
Stone, stone cold
Stone cold again

As I lift the glass of wine
As I wait for party time
I'm stone cold, stone cold again

Take me with you if you can
Lead me there, just take my hand
It's stone cold, stone cold again

Stone cold etc.
